I’m Nicola — mum of two boys, lover of laughter, and the calm voice in the room who somehow gets children to sit still (most of the time).

I’ve been a photographer for over 24 years — degree qualified, highly experienced, and still just as obsessed with beautiful light and timeless portraits as I was at 21. Over the years I’ve created close to 30,000 portraits and work with around 80 nurseries each year across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire. Experience matters — especially when you’re working with children — and after two decades behind the camera, very little fazes me.

Being a mum myself changes everything. I understand how quickly they grow, how much personality they have, and how emotional it feels when you suddenly realise they’re not so little anymore. You don’t just want a photograph — you want them. Their expression. Their character. That exact stage they’re in right now.

Sessions feel relaxed and enjoyable, but behind that calm atmosphere is careful direction, expert lighting and a trained eye ensuring every portrait is beautifully composed and worthy of your wall. I’m completely at ease with children of all personalities — shy, confident, serious, cheeky — and I know how to gently draw out natural expression without forcing smiles.
